Aom is a collection of sofas and armchairs that reinterprets contemporary seating through a principle of subtraction: removing the unnecessary to enhance quality, reducing weight to expand possibilities of use. Here, subtraction also means responsibility. An essential approach to materials and construction lowers the overall impact and makes sustainability an integral part of the design. Minimal and unconventional, Aom adapts effortlessly to different contexts without changing its language - from lounge areas to lobbies, from waiting spaces to terraces and outdoor settings - where lightness translates into freedom of use and ease of movement.
Aom’s sustainability begins with its construction. Materials are chosen for durability and recoverability, while the number of components is reduced and the assembly is clear and straightforward. The collection is made of just two elements designed to interlock: a lightweight and durable structure in expanded polypropylene (EPP), paired with Breathair® padding - an elastomeric polyester that is fully recyclable and offers advanced comfort, high elasticity, breathability, and water resistance. This combination is unusual within the sector and makes it possible to eliminate polyurethane entirely – a significant step, considering the recycling challenges associated with that material. This approach supports a circular design logic and offers practical advantages: assembly and disassembly are intuitive, the use of glue is eliminated, components can be easily separated, and reuse at the end of the product’s life cycle becomes more feasible. The material consistency of the elements also simplifies end-of-life management, reducing both processes and complexity.
The same material combination makes lightness a defining feature. Aom remains easy to handle without sacrificing solidity thanks to its essential structure. The sofa is available in one, two, and three-seat versions, and its reduced weight makes it easy to move and reconfigure, making it particularly suitable for lounges, waiting areas and shared spaces in contract, hospitality, and educational environments. Designed for fluid use between indoor and outdoor spaces, Aom performs naturally outdoors as well: thanks to integrated drainage in the structure and the breathable padding, it dries quickly after exposure to water. At the end of its life cycle, the product can reach up to approximately 80% recyclability, in line with the essential and circular approach that defines the entire collection.
