Well known among London locals, Harry Morgan’s restaurant of St Johns Wood is one of Inside Out’s latest projects; bringing New York City’s famous deli-style dining scene to London. Opened in 1948, this long established eatery houses all the trademark menu items you’d expect when dining out in the Big Apple, such as all day breakfast options, bagels, salted beef and a NY cheesecake.

Undergoing its first major renovation since its inception, the new Harry Morgan’s restaurant fuses the time-honoured styles of NY diners with a contemporary laid-back design. To complete this extensive project, Inside Out Contracts worked with both Cosmur construction and David Gilston Design who were enlisted with the fit out and redesign of this renowned local haunt.

Inside Out Contracts provided a bespoke service to complete the diner style seating required by the client, including corner booths, banquette seating, leaner bars and complementing tables throughout. Each seat was finished with expert button detailing and upholstered in a durable red faux leather, reminiscent of a retro diner.

The modern and minimalist Lund side chair was finsihed in matching upholstery, with black lacquered beech frames to offset the retro-diner look and introduce a contemporary appeal.

The advantage of being able to upholster both chairs and booths in the same fabric assisted greatly in the roll out of rebranding for Harry Morgan’s which followed a traditional burgundy, black and gold colour palette. The final result sees Harry Morgan’s emerge from the busy High street of St Johns Wood with a new look and feel that plays true homage to the NY scene which has inspired its menu.
