Royal Festival Hall

When the Southbank Centre decided to breathe new life into two of its top-floor venues — the Seventy5th Balcony Bar and the Members Lounge — the challenge was to strike the perfect balance between the Royal Festival Hall’s 1950s modernist legacy and the expectations of today’s hospitality scene.

The design called for furniture that felt in tune with the building’s heritage, while also being stylish, comfortable, and robust enough for everyday use. Each space had a distinct mood — one vibrant and social, the other calm and refined — and the furniture needed to support those identities seamlessly.

That’s where Inside Out Contracts came in. We supplied a selection of mid-century-inspired furniture that helped bring the vision to life. From bold curves to plush upholstery and elegant finishes, every piece was chosen to reflect the era’s charm while offering modern-day comfort. In the Seventy5th Balcony Bar, the furniture adds energy and flair, creating an inviting space for cocktails and conversation. In the Members Lounge, the tone shifts to something more serene and sophisticated — a perfect place to pause above the buzz of the Southbank.

The end result is two beautifully furnished spaces that honour the past while feeling completely contemporary. Our pieces add character, comfort, and cohesion to the interiors — helping transform the top floor of Royal Festival Hall into an elevated hospitality destination that Southbank Centre guests can enjoy day or night.
