1. New in metal framed furniture

From galvanised brass to A-frame black metal chair legs providing more than ample strength and the desired unique look, metal framed chairs are still firmly on-trend for the furniture industry.

Brass metal is still kicking about the stands of Milan whilst the Copper frames that were popular from last year's fair, look to be replaced by black, paired with black plywood or muted tone fabrics and leather.

More often than not, metal tubular frames were incorporated into new plywood chair designs.

2. contemporary cane chairs

The resurgence of plantation and colonial style tea rooms, brasseries and hotel lounges has increased the availability and popularity of cane furniture.

Not least, in Milan, famous design-houses and contemporary designers released their new furniture designs for 2019, including at least one signature cane-style chair, or bringing back to the stage some of their classical cane collections - recognising the demand and trend.

3. outdoor furniture launches

Woven chord and innovative new upholstered cushioning for outdoors were in full swing.

4. new in lounge chairs

Statement lounges taking on the metal frame trends and curvy proportions, from American club style lounges to modernised high back chairs.

Pink is all around, at least where furniture concerned.

From light pink velvet, rich magenta and pinky-maroon leathers it was hard not see all pink.
