Natural Wood Furniture Shapes Refurbishment
When Ishbilia embarked on its refurbishment, the aim was to refresh the restaurant while staying true to the warmth, character and hospitality that have made it a London favourite since 1998.
Working alongside the interior design team, Inside Out Contracts helped furnish the transformed space with furniture that supported the overall design vision while meeting the practical demands of a busy hospitality environment. The brief called for a setting that felt welcoming, refined and authentic. Through carefully considered furniture selections, we helped realise the design concept, introducing pieces that worked in harmony with the interior scheme, complemented the material palette and enhanced the overall dining experience.
The furniture scheme responds to the different experiences found throughout the venue. On arrival, guests are welcomed by the outdoor dining terrace, where Jago Side Chairs sit amongst abundant planting beneath Ishbilia's distinctive striped awnings. Their lightweight, architectural profile complements the surrounding greenery, creating a relaxed transition between the restaurant and the street.
Inside, the palette becomes warmer and more tactile. A selection of Betta Tables establishes a consistent visual language throughout the restaurant, combining natural timber finishes with durable materials suited to everyday hospitality use. Solid wood tops in aged ash introduce warmth, texture and material richness, contributing to a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.
Paired with the tables, Jona Side Chairs bring comfort and understated elegance to the dining areas. Together, the natural timber finishes and soft forms create an interior that feels both contemporary and welcoming, reinforcing the restaurant's balance of modern design and traditional hospitality.
The completed refurbishment respects Ishbilia's heritage while introducing a fresh new chapter for the restaurant. It demonstrates how thoughtful furniture design can support a wider interior vision, creating a space that feels considered, welcoming and effortlessly suited to both guests and staff.
